A summary succession list. Early reigns before the sixteenth century rest largely on dynastic tradition; dates thereafter follow the Mysore Gazetteer and standard reference works.
1399–1423
Yaduraya Wadiyar
Traditional founder of the dynasty at Mysore, as a Vijayanagara feudatory.
1423–1578
Chamaraja Wadiyar I – IV
A century and a half of small chiefly rule around Mysore town, sparsely documented.
1578–1617
Raja Wadiyar I
Captured Srirangapatna in 1610 and instituted the Dasara durbar.
1638–1659
Kanthirava Narasaraja I
Repelled Bijapur invasions; issued the kanthirayi fanam coinage.
1673–1704
Chikka Devaraja Wadiyar
The kingdom's greatest administrator; eighteen revenue departments and a postal service.
1714–1766
Krishnaraja Wadiyar I – II
Period of dalavayi ascendancy; royal authority progressively eclipsed.

Hyder Ali (de facto ruler)
Governed in the king's name; fought the first two Anglo-Mysore Wars.
